FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Which measuring ranges are covered by the »redomatic«?
Depending on the device configuration, the ZOLLER »redomatic« can measure a maximum tool length of 600 mm to 1000 mm and a maximum diameter of 420 mm to 800 mm.
How do I get broken tools out of my shrink fit fixture?
For this purpose, we have developed a specialized shrinking function, whereby the broken shank tool is pushed out with the help of the automatic »asza« length limit system.
Can I also shrink MST chucks with the »redomatic«?
For automated measuring, adjusting and shrinking of shank tools in MST heat-shrink holders, the ZOLLER »redomatic 600« MST has been specially developed.
How many times can I shrink my chuck until it is worn?
The lifetime depends on the manufacturer and can be specified in our database. Our ZOLLER coil heats your feed extremely gently to extract the maximum lifetime and reduces your energy costs by up to 30%.
How exact can I shrink and measure with the »redomatic«?
After you have used the heat-shrink holder, the »masterPiece« adjusting adapter and the tool in the »redomatic«, the length limit is automatically adjusted to match the nominal tool length. This gives you an accuracy of less than 10 μm. This gives you an accuracy of less than 10 μm when adjusting the target length. The repeatability when measuring is the same for the »redomatic« as for other presetting and measuring machines from ZOLLER and is max. 2 μm.
What coil options are available?
You have the option between our automatic induction coil with screening system »varOct« and the manual version with screening plates. Both coils are available in the 14 kVA execution. The coil with screening plates is optionally available as a 22 kVA coil, for shrinking larger shrink fit tool holders diameters D40 mm to D50 mm and reinforced shrink tool holders (higher wall thickness).
Can I save my tool and shrink data?
With the help of our »pilot 4.0« image processing software, all measuring and shrinking parameters can be saved and called up in seconds via the ZOLLER »idChip«, for example. This guarantees a clean and error-free process.
Where can or must I install the »redomatic«?
Your device should be installed on a floor slab made of concrete or similar, with a maximum unevenness of 2 mm. The installation site should be equipped with compressed air, power connection and a network connection. The device should be protected from sunlight, cold or warm air currents, magnetic fields and vibrations in order not to falsify the measurement results.
Where are the cooling bells stored?
All components for the shrink process are clearly and ergonomically arranged on our carrier system. This provides the operator's personnel with a comfortable working environment. On the »redomatic 600« model, the »sls« shrink guide system on the carrier system is additionally LED-controlled to indicate the correct component for the upcoming step. To achieve an even simpler and safer shrink process, the cooling bells on both the »redomatic 400« and the »redomatic 600« are available with the »coolbyLight« operator guidance system, which uses the LED color system to guide the operator through the cooling process.
How does the length adjustment work?
With the help of our automatic length stop system »asza«, the tool can be held in the required position during the shrinking system while maintaining a tolerance of the total length of 10 µm.
How long does a shrinking system including tool measurement take?
The complete working process from shrinking / cooling to the finished measurement of a shank tool takes approx. 2 to 3 minutes and depends on the tool type, diameter, etc.
Are there different automatic length stop systems »asza« depending on the shrink fit?
We have various setting pins in our range, which can be selected as required. The device shows you via the LED-controlled operator guidance of the shrink guide system "sls" on the carrier system exactly which pin you have to use. The pins are screwed in with a simple and user-friendly thread, so they can be exchanged in just a few seconds.
What exactly is the »swomp« measuring program?
With the »swomp« (shrinking without »masterPiece«) measuring program, it is possible to quickly and safely shrink all types of drill to a specific nominal length. It is irrelevant whether the tool is new or has been reground. During the shrinking system, the automatic »asza« length limit system is pre-positioned, the heat-shrink holder is heated, and the length of the tool is set with high precision without an adjusting adapter.
